Vedic Prayer (with translation)

ॐ भद्रं कर्णेभि:  शृणुयाम देवा:.........
O gods! May we hear pious words with our ears.


ॐ भद्रं कर्णेभि:  शृणुयाम देवा:
भद्रं पश्येमाक्षभिर्यजत्रा:  |
स्थिरैरङ्गै स्तुष्टु  वांसस्तनूभि:
व्यशेम देवहितं यदायु: || 

O gods! May we hear pious words with our ears. O gods worthy of worship, may we see beautiful forms with our eyes. Possessed of strong bodies,  (please grant us the boon that ),  we may keep singing your chants. As created by gods (Prajapati / Brahma), may we deserve a long life.


स्वस्ति न इन्द्रो वृद्धश्रवा: 
स्वस्ति न: पूषा विश्ववेदा : |
स्वस्तिनस्ताक्ष् र्यो अरिष्ट नेमि:
स्वस्ति नो बृहस्पतिर्दधातु ||

May the Lord Indra of many fames (virtues) bless us. May the omniscient Lord Poosha bless us. May Garud dev (Eagle Lord), whose weapons are (unmatched and) unbreakable bless us. May Guru Bruhaspati (Brihaspati) bless us.

प्रणो देवी सरस्वती वाजेभिर्वाजिनीवति धीनामवित्र्यवतु |
चोदयत्री सूनृतां चेतंति सुमतिनाम् यज्ञं दधे सरवति |
महो अर्ण: सरस्वती प्रचेतयति केतुना धियो विश्वा विराजति |

O goddess Saraswati who feeds with me food (in the form of knowledge), protector of worshipers, please protect us with food (in the form of knowledge). 
Goddess Saraswati, the giver of pious zeal and (giver of) the right intellect to the worshipers, embodies (accepts) the (wisdom - jnana) Yagna (offering).
The Goddess Saraswati who boons worshipers with huge quantum of knowledge-water, may her light glow forever.

असतो म सत् गमय |
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय |
मृत्योर्मा मृतं गमय |
ॐ शान्ति:  शान्ति: शान्ति: ||

O god! Please lead me 
from lies to The Truth 
from the darkness (of ignorance) to The Light of Knowledge
from death to Eternity.
(May there be) Peace! Peace! Peace! (for all). 

(Note on translation: This translation, attempted by me, may be literally proper but can be considered neither authentic nor profound. An enlightened Sanskrti scholar will offer a much better understanding.)
